The Institut für dentale Sedierung (Institute for dental sedation, website in German) in Cologne was Germany's first institute to specialize in training for dental sedation and remains the leader in its field.

The experienced and highly knowledgeable team of experts including anesthesiologists, emergency medical practitioners, dentists and medical lawyers provide dentists with training in nitrous oxide sedation, oral sedation and combined sedation, each course also includes training in the management of emergencies.

Mathers, founder of the Institute for Dental Sedation and author of the first German-language medical book on dental sedation techniques, "Dentale Sedierung - Lachgas und orale Sedativa in der Praxis" [Dental Sedation – Nitrous oxide and oral sedatives in practice], published in April 2011 by the Deutsche Zahnärzte Verlag [German Dentistry Publishing House] will lead all the courses.
